Recital & Reception

As a way to further reflect on the conference themes across the arts and various types of language or text, we are happy to invite you to a piano recital by young musician Simon Vaskou, followed by a farewell reception.

Born in Grenoble in 1994, Simon Vaskou started playing the piano at age four and entered the Regional Conservatory (CRR) of Grenoble at the age of six. In 2015, he graduated from Regional Conservatory (CRR) of Paris with a “diplôme d’études musicales” (DEM) and from Paris-Sorbonne University with a Bachelor’s degree in musicology. He went on to specialize with Professors David Braslawsky and Romano Pallottini at Regional Conservatory (CRR) of Saint-Maur, France. In June 2017, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with mention from the ARTS² – Royal Conservatory in Mons, Belgium, where he studied with Professor Jean-Michel Dayez.

In June 2020, under the supervision of Professor Jan Michiels, Simon received his Master of Arts with mention from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Royal Conservatory of Brussels), having performed Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30.

Simon participated in Master-classes with many well-known pianists and professors, including Denis Pascal, Florent Boffard, Georges Pludermacher, David Saudubray, Alexandre Tharaud, Kotaro Fukuma, Maria João Pires, and Jean-Philippe Collard. He also took part in international competitions in Brest (2016) and Liège (2018). More information on
